Looking to get your shot? Spokane Arena sends leftover vaccine doses to Safeway pharmacies

Spokane Arena

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Arena mass vaccination site is sending leftover vaccine doses to Safeway, which are used at the stores’ pharmacies to vaccinate patients.

The Arena site, which is operated by the Washington State Department of Health, has recently launched a waiting lot that opens 45 minutes before the site’s closing time.

Leftover vaccine doses are given to people who show up there, but any doses not used go to Safeway, which has partnered with the DOH. Those doses may be transferred back to the pharmacy and administered to patients there.

DOH says those doses remain unopened and sealed until they are used for vaccine appointments.
