Lois Lorrain Smith

Lois L Smith (age 88) passed away peacefully on the morning of April 23,2020. She passed with the sun on her face, her hand being held, surrounded by the love of her family.

Lois was born on February 2, 1932 in Daisy Washington. She was the 8th child out of 10 born to her mother and father (Susanna Mary Cudney and William Henry Holford). Lois is survived in death by 2 of her siblings, Donald Dean and Vida Mae Holford.

At the age of 19, Lois married her husband of 52 years, Vernon Hylton Smith (1926-2003). Together they had 4 sons (Francis Vernon “Sonny”, Richard Milton, Stephen Leroy, and Norman Stuart Smith). She is survived in death by Norman Stuart Smith, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Lois was a strong believer of Jesus Christ and a very active member of The Church of Latter-Day Saints. During her membership she volunteered in their library, participated in their visiting/teaching program, and devoted herself to her ancestry and genealogy of her family lineage. With her findings she traced, found, and sealed many of her family members to herself in the temple.

Throughout her life Lois was known for a multitude of different hobbies and interests. She started out cooking for The Spokane Eagles Gun Club and later joined in trap shooting alongside her husband and sons. Her and her family greatly enjoyed traveling and competing in money trap shooting competitions. Having a lot of the outdoors she was a well-known hunter, fisher, gardener and canner.

She will be most remembered as a dedicated mother and grandmother, overseer and caretaker to any and all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always willing to watch over them, teach them and love on them any moment she could. She was a great woman with many family and friends that will remember her always in their memory and love her always.

Viewing: April 28th, 2020 from 12:00 – 5:00 pm

Service: April 29th,2020 11:00am (immediate family only due to covid 19)

Burial: April 29th, 2020 2:30 pm (immediate family only)

Viewing and Service will be held at the Sherman Campbell Funeral Home (509.447.3118, 423 West Second Street, Newport WA 99156), they will be live streaming her funeral service on their Facebook page (Sherman-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Services).

She will be buried at Riverside Memorial Park. 509-838-1405, N 211 Government Way Spokane WA
