Local Veterans: Win a free quilt!
COLVILLE, Wash. — The Tri County Economic Development District in Colville is offering local veterans the chance to win a beautiful quilt– for free. Local quilters Valerie Lamont and Judy Lockner have created this beautiful quilt with a patriotic flare, sporting stars and stripes.
Last fall Lamont and Lockner decided to make a quilt and pass it on to a local veteran. Just before Christmas Lamont and Lockner, in partnership with TEDD, held a drawing, which was free to enter for all local veterans. That first quilt went home with Kathy Callan, a local veteran who is active locally in the Stevens County Veterans Court. Callan’s reaction to receiving the quilt was priceless. “I am so thankful for the quilt and just want everyone to know that the work that was done in creating and presenting the quilt really does convey gratitude for the service that the veterans have given.”
Entries for this Veteran Quilt drawing will be accepted until May 18. If you would like to nominate a veteran, or are a veteran yourself, you may submit an entry for this special drawing. Entry forms will be available at the TEDD office, 986 S Main, Colville, WA, 99114, or online at the TEDD website www.tricountyedd.com. Just download an entry form and turn it into the office. Electronic entries will also be accepted through the TEDD Facebook page. All local veterans are invited to enter and anyone can submit entries nominating a local veteran. The winning name will be drawn on Monday, May 21st. “We hope that the quilts will offer comfort and underline our appreciation for their many sacrifices” said Lamont.
