Local teacher honors Class of 2020 with Riverfront Park painting

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Riverfront Park clock tower meadow is now home to honoring the Class of 2020.

Artist Tom Pettoello of Turf Graphics Northwest painted a congratulatory message to all graduating seniors, both high school and college.

This isn’t Pettoello’s first time doing something like this. The teacher at Rogers High School painted the names of graduating seniors on the football field back in April.

Like the students, Pettoello knows what it feel like to have a year cut short.

“It was tough,” said Pettoello. “I think, we like working with kids, obviously, if you’re a teacher — and then when they’re all of a sudden taken away, then you start thinking, ‘well, what can I do?’”
