Local school supply giveaway helps hundreds of students
SPOKANE, Wash. — Hundreds of students are a little more prepared for classes to begin, thanks to a school supply giveaway at The General Store Tuesday afternoon.
The store, along with the West Central Community Center, gave away thousands of dollars worth of supplies.
Parents say it’s a big help to have one less expense to worry about.
“It really helps a lot,” said parent Miranda Ward. “It’ll save money that I can use to pay my power bill or rent.”
The supplies were handed out on a first come, first serve basis.
Spokane Public Schools’ first day of classes is next Thursday.
