Local middle school student creates device to help Arthritis sufferers

One Northwood Middle School student sees a problem and tries to fix it.

Seventh-grader Jake Gendreau invented the “Get a Grip” device for the Invent Washington competition. He won Best in Show last month for his age group.

“Get a Grip” is a device to help people who are suffering from ailments like Arthritis brush their teeth, by squeezing the toothpaste out for them. The adaptable group works for any hand shape.

Next month, he’ll compete at a national competition in Michigan, where companies will be looking to buy ideas and turn them in to products.
