Local company to honor discounts for government employees until pay restored
AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Dozens of local companies have stepped up to cut federal workers some slack during the longest government shutdown in our country’s history — and even with the government reopening, one company in Airway Heights says that’ll stay the same until government employees are paid.
ABC Mini Storage on Highway 2 says they’re not expecting payment from federal employees even though the government shutdown is over.
“We did have a handful of customers that took us up on our offer,” said senior manager Sherry Wolfe. “They were extremely appreciative and, you know, we’re not doing this to be thanked, we’re doing this because it’s the right thing to do.”
Wolfe said even if late fees build up, those will be wiped out when government workers’ pay is restored.
