Local business ramps up production of Seahawks chips

What’s better than supporting the Seattle Seahawks?

How about supporting a local business while you’re at it.

It’s that time of year again when De Leon Foods ramps up production of its famous Seahawks colored tortilla chips!

When the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl in 2014, Sergio De Leon’s 12 year-old son wanted to do something special. He came up with the idea for the homemade green and blue tortilla chips.

De Leon says they sell thousands of the chips every year, even sending them to fans out of the state.

When they first started, De Leon says they had no idea how popular the chips would be.

“During the playoffs, [we sell] thousands of bags of chips,” said owner Sergio De Leon. “I forgot how many we sold last year, but the last couple of years people were waiting in line for hours just to get some of the chips.”

De Leon Foods has two locations: in Spokane Valley on Sprague and in north Spokane on Francis
