Three killed in crash near Loon Lake, Hwy 395 closed for eight hours
LOON LAKE, Wash. — Three people have died in a fire truck accident on Highway 395 near Loon Lake.
Northbound and southbound lanes of the highway closed for about eight hours.
A Stevens County fire truck with district 1 was driving to a call with its lights and sirens on. Officials said a car crossed over the center line and crashed head-on into the fire truck. All three people in the car were killed and the two people in the fire truck were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Fire officials tell 4 News Now the car exploded on impact and caught on fire.
According to Washington State Patrol, at least two people in the car were minors. The third person has not yet been identified.
A Life Flight air ambulance was dispatched, though it was cancelled as the three people died at the scene.
