Lamp Post Tavern is still for sale and will be closing on August 31st
Updated – 4:24 p.m. – The Lamp Post Tavern is ticking down for closure on August 31st if nobody buys up the venue that has seen over five decades of business. The tavern, located at 408 West Sprague Ave.,went up for sale on Craigslist on June 10th, listing itself at a negotiable $130,000.
Tavern manager, Gary Sanders, says there was a buyer, but the deal fell through. Since then the price has dropped all the way down to $60-80,000.
The tavern is closing because the current owner is reaching retirement age and the manager is disabled.
The current identity of the tavern as the Light Post has only existed for 26 years. During the 1950s, the tavern was known as Homer’s Pub.
