Kxly4 and STCU team up to honor volunteers who make a difference

Kxly4 News and STCU are teaming up to honor dedicated volunteers who truly make a difference for local non-profit organizations.

The winner of the $1,000 Volunteers Count grant is Alex Altiero, and the Rough Start Youth Program.

Alex does everything from feeding, watering, and treating abandoned and rescue horses and training other children and youth to do the same.

“Alex is a remarkable young woman, teaching kids how to care for abandoned horses with the goal to reduce the number at the Rough Start Animal Rescue,” said Traci McGlathery, STCU Director of Community Relations.

Alex, 18, also organizes and operates all of the local community outreach projects for the rough start program.
