KXLY viewer makes dream come true for Spokane girl
SPOKANE, Wash. — A legally blind Spokane girl got the surprise of a lifetime Thursday night, thanks to a KXLY 4 News viewer.
Brooklyn Page was entered into a contest online to win a Buddy Bike, a specialized bike made for two people.
For several weeks hundreds of people voted for the elementary school student, but when it came to the final minutes she didn’t have enough votes to win the specialized bike.
That’s when KXLY viewer Kevin Reeves decided to help her out.
“My mother was blind later on in life and so when I saw your story it really resonated with me.” Reeves said.
Reeves bought the bike and Thursday afternoon presented it to the little girl. Her reaction was one of joyful screams and surprise.
“When she figured out that it was a bike under there I really believe that she knew her dreams had come true,” Brooklyn’s mom Brittany Page said.
Page says she it will take some time for Brooklyn to learn how to ride on the two person bike, but they are excited to try it out.
