KXLY staff, viewers bid farewell to Nadine Woodward

It’s the end of an era on the Spokane news Thursday night, as anchor Nadine Woodward signs off for the final time.

After nearly three decades on the air, Nadine is retiring from television news, with her final broadcast being the 6-7 pm news on KXLY.

Signing off for the last time tonight. Thank you #Spokane for 28 years… it’s been one hell of a ride!

Nadine is a northwest native who has had a front-row seat to some of Spokane’s biggest news stories, from Firestorm in 1991 to Icestorm in 1996 and beyond. She prides herself on professionalism and preparedness and was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle Award for broadcasters with at least 25 years experience in the industry.

All week, our viewers have shared their thoughts and memories on Facebook. Virginia wrote, “She’s been my 94-year old mom’s favorite for as long she’s been on the air! My dad had a crush on her, too.”

Callie said, “Every time I moved back to Spokane, I would watch Nadine and it felt like home. Things change, stores shut down, neighborhoods go up, but Nadine was a constant.”

In addition to her work on TV, Nadine is also a wife, mom of two grown children, a self-proclaimed voracious foodie and a world traveler. We imagine she won’t sit still for long after retirement from TV news, but we know she’ll spend at least some of her time on a beach somewhere, sipping a margarita. You can watch Nadine’s final newscast Thursday at 6 pm on KXLY4.
