Kootenai Co. to lift burn ban on Friday
HAYDEN, Idaho — Kootenai County will be lifting its COVID-19 burn ban on Friday, after several agencies reviewed conditions and came to an agreement.
This means open burning and yard waste burn permits will be allowed as of April 24.
The decision was made by the Kootenai County Fire Chiefs Association, made up of Emergency Operations Center Incident Commanders, Multi-Agency-Coordination Center Personnel, the Idaho Department of Lands, and Public Health officials.
They instituted the burn ban to limit unnecessary contact between first responders and the community.
“During the burn ban, we were acutely aware of the inconvenience that was placed on the public,” said the Fire Chiefs Association in a press release. “We only took the most necessary precautions to protect your first responders as well as to protect you, the citizens we serve.”
