Kootenai Co. Deputies chase, arrest wanted felon with long criminal history
RATHDRUM, Idaho — Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputies chased down and arrested a wanted felon during a pursuit.
Deputies pulled a man over for a traffic violation, eventually identifying him as 44-year-old William L. Newman of Post Falls. They also discovered that Newman had a felony probation violation warrant – his original charges being battery on a corrections officer and domestic battery in front of a child.
Newman sped off when Deputies tried to arrest him.
The pursuit ended up on northbound Highway 41, but Deputies were able to stop Newman with a PIT maneuver. Newman got out of the car and tried to run, but K9 Pogo quickly subdued him.
Newman was arrested on his warrant and for felony eluding, false information to police and possession of paraphernalia. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Newman has a criminal history with arrests related to aggravated assault, domestic battery, drug possession and probation violations.
