Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianna killed in helicopter crash in California
CALABASAS, Calif. — Former basketball player and NBA star Kobe Bryant, and his daughter Gianna, died in a helicopter crash Sunday morning.
Kobe was 41, and Gianna was 13.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a helicopter crash in Calabasas, reporting that all five people on board died. The ABC affiliate in Los Angeles, KABC-TV, confirmed that Kobe Bryant was one of the passengers killed in the crash.
That afternoon, ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed that Bryant, his daughter, and another parent and player were on their way to a travel basketball game – all of whom died in the crash.
Earlier in January, both Kobe and Gianna were in Washington state, visiting Cashmere High School to watch varsity player Hailey Van Lith play on the girl’s basketball team.
