Kimmel still not convinced Gonzaga exists, but chooses Zags to win NCAA title anyway
SPOKANE, Wash. — After asserting on his show earlier this week, “I don’t believe Gonzaga exists,” Jimmy Kimmel sparked quite the controversy in Spokane.
Gonzaga alumni and Spokane city representatives took to the defensive to prove that GU does in fact exist outside of the college basketball world, and Spokane is actually a pretty cool place.
Two days after his initial remarks, Kimmel addressed the lighthearted controversy he created by reading some of the pro-Gonzaga tweets on air. Still, he claims he is not convinced.
“All these tweets, all these examples, these are circumstantial. I need physical evidence that proves unequivically, that Gonzaga exists,” Kimmel said Wednesday night.
Although some Zags are taking offense to the running joke, they can’t be too mad. Kimmel did, after all, pick their team to win the national championship. He ended his monologue Wednesday by saying, “Oh by the way, I filled out my bracket this afternoon, I picked Gonzaga to win the NCAA tournament…”
