Judge drops murder charge against woman accused of killing ex-boyfriend in Spokane Valley
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The woman once accused of killing her ex-boyfriend in 2016 no longer faces murder charges.
According to court documents, a judge dropped the first-degree murder charge against 39-year-old Cristina Stiles in January after the State was unable to obtain the necessary evidence to move forward with a trial.
Stiles was accused of killing 34-year-old Clifford “Cory” Fowler in February 2016. She was arrested in Florida and extradited to Spokane in 2018.
Fowler was found shot to death in his apartment. Prior to his death, Fowler and Stiles were involved in child custody hearings for their young child.
Authorities have been investigating Fowler’s death for years.
