“It’s the best peach picking season in years,” Green Bluff growers boast
MEAD, Wash. — Little smoke, a tiny bit of frost and barely any heat seems to be the recipe for the perfect peach season.
“Conditions have been very favorable for growing peaches. Out here at Walters’ Fruit Ranch the crop is a little lighter so a lot of the peaches are bigger than you’ve ever seen them before,” said Jason Morrell, owner of Walters’ Fruit Ranch.
At Walters’ Fruit Ranch, you lose count of how many peach trees are ready for picking, and how many will be soon as the season is expected to last through mid-September. Pick as many as your arms can hold, and if you visit August 17, sign up for Cherry Hill’s canning class to learn how you can keep enjoying them all year long!
“You picked all this fruit, you got carried away, we don’t want you to go away with regret, but we also want you to learn how you can have a nutritious winter,” explained Cherry Hill owner Ronda Bosma.
Grab the jar of peaches you’ll walk away with and stop on by the first ever “Food Trucks and Fruit” celebration at Beck’s Harvest House.
Todd Beck with Beck’s Harvest House said, “We are going to have 2-3 different food trucks here every day, live music going from 10 to 4 both days, pony rides for the kids and we will be doing the country limo rides up to the orchard!”
The festival will take place Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18.

“When a peach is on a tree it grows like this. So you take this peach, you put it upside down (stem down) in your cooler and it’s going to last a lot longer,” explained Morrell.
