‘It’s 100% inaccurate’: Rosauers CEO responds to reports of woman licking produce

SPOKANE, Wash. — The president and CEO of Rosauers responded to reports of a woman licking produce at the 5 Mile store on Saturday, saying the witness’ statement is “one hundred percent inaccurate.”

Spokane Police confirmed they were investigating the incident after a witness said he watched her lick the produce. He also said the woman touched her face and proceeded to touch 20-30 pre-packaged packets of raw meat.

“The woman is seen on video surveillance in a safety vest, not doing anything the witness said,” Jeff Philipps, president and CEO of Rosauers, said. “What she did do was touch the crate of apples when she walked in, not the apples themselves.”

According to Philipps, the woman walked down aisles and touched some items, but was never seen licking anything. There is no threat to customers’ health at the store, he added.
