Injured Kittitas police officer will be released from hospital
KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. — According to KAPP/KVEW-TV, “The Kittitas Police officer shot in the line of duty will be released from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle around 3 p.m. Saturday.”
Officer Benito Chavez will be escorted back to Kittitas County by the Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue.
Officer Chavez’s family has asked for privacy while he recovers and the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office will be updating the public with his recovery.
According to KAPP/KVEW-TV, “Officer Benito ‘Kellyn’ Chavez was shot on March 20 during a shootout with Juan Manuel Flores Del Torro of Ellenburg and Kittitas County Deputy Ryan Thompson. All three were shot in the incident.”
Deputy Thompson and Torro were taken to Kittitas Valley Hospital and both were pronounced dead.
Deputy Thompson’s memorial service will be on March 28 at Central Washington University.
