Idaho Democratic Party Chairman Announces Resignation
BOISE — Idaho Democratic Party Chairman Richard Stallings is stepping down.
Party officials say the 67-year-old Stallings began sharing his plans with Democratic leaders Thursday, but plans a public announcement Friday. Party Executive Director John Foster says the resignation is effective immediately.
Last month, Stallings resigned his seat on the Pocatello City Council, saying he wanted to focus more time on leading Idaho’s minority party and tending to his consulting business.
This time, Stallings says he just wants to travel and spend more time with his family.
Foster says the leadership post will be filled temporarily by Vice Chairwoman Jeanne Buell. Foster says a permanent leader will be elected at the party’s central committee meeting Jan. 4.
