On Sunday, Aug. 26, Deborah was getting ready for church when she heard her doorbell ring. Within minutes, she would be on the phone with 911 as an intruder cut her 80-year-old mother’s throat.

Deborah told her story to KAPP-KVEW as a warning to others:

Chandler Ford, 23, of Union Gap was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault and first-degree burglary. Police say Ford broke into a home in the 900 block of South 53rd Avenue just after 8 a.m. Sunday and cut the neck of 80-year-old resident Barbara Borgen, who was treated and released from a local hospital. Neighbors called police, who struggled with Ford when they arrived on scene. During the struggle, police say Ford cut an officer in the face with a razor knife, who was treated and released from a local hospital Ford is being held in the Yakima County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
