House engulfed in flames in north Spokane

Spokane firefighters responded to a large house fire near North Post Street and West Nora Avenue around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday night.

Firefighters worked for over an hour to get the flames under control. When they arrived, they saw a person inside the home jump from a second story window to escape the flames and heat.

That person was taken to Sacred Heart in stable condition.

Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said the fire likely started on the stove and grew out of control due to cooking oil. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause.
