Hooptown USA releases line of Kobe Bryant-inspired shirts
SPOKANE, Wash. — Hooptown USA has released a line of shirts inspired by Kobe Bryant.
The announcement came on Instagram, with Hooptown USA offering two different shirt designs. The first, called ‘Mamba Tee’ features the Los Angeles Lakers’ color scheme with the Hooptown USA logo, as well as the number 8, turned sideways like an infinity sign. On the back reads ‘Mambacita,’ as well as the numbers 8, 24 and 2 – the first two being Kobe’s jersey numbers playing for the Lakers, and the last being Gianna’s jersey number.
The second design is the ‘Kobe Tee,’ a gray shirt with a wastebasket collecting crumpled balls of paper, a reference to a generation of kids saying “Kobe” before shooting baskets – whether it was an actual basketball, or something as mundane as tossing a piece of paper in the garbage.
The world was shaken after Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California in January. Memorials worldwide have immortalized the basketball legend, and the legend his daughter likely would have become.
