Homicide suspect taken into custody for Coeur d’Alene shooting

COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho — A person suspected of stealing a car and shooting two people is in custody Thursday evening, Coeur d’Alene Police said. 

According to a release, officers were called to a robbery in the 2900 block of W. Fairway Dr around 5:30 p.m. 

There, a man told officers his car had been stolen at gunpoint. Officers were still searching for the suspected robber when they got another call, reporting a shooting near N 3rd St. and E. Roosevelt Ave. 

Officers arrived to find one man dead and learned another man had already been taken to Kootenai Health. 

A while later, an Idaho State Police trooper spotted the stolen car and pursued the suspect, who was eventually taken into custody. 

The investigation is ongoing.
