Homes briefly evacuated as fire burns near Colville
STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — A fast moving wildfire four miles west of Colville in the Gold Creek Loop area briefly evacuated homes, but residents are being allowed to go back into their homes, according to Jim Caruso of Stevens County Emergency Management.
Fire Districts 3, 6, 7, and the Department of Natural Resources are fighting the fire from the ground and in the sky with with dozers, two fire planes, and two helicopters.
The fire is currently at 20 acres but fortunately no structures have been lost. Crews are getting a line around the fire to prevent it from growing any larger.
A request for shelter from Red Cross was originally called for but has since been cancelled.
