Nearly one year after former Washington State University quarterback Tyler Hilinski’s death, his family’s foundation is teaming up with the NCAA Sport Science Institute to promote mental wellness in college athletics.

Hilinski’s Hope announced the partnership early Monday morning, saying the public’s donations and support made this next step possible.

“The NCAA Sport Science Institute is proud to partner with Hilinski’s Hope to identify effective strategies for increasing the adoption and implementation of best practices for understanding and supporting student-athlete mental wellness at all NCAA member institutions,” said Brian Hainline, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for the NCAA.

Hilinski’s Hope has sponsored mental health trailing at several universities over the last year.

Tyler Hilinski took his own life on Jan. 16, 2018.
