#happylife: Class teaches local women how to defend themselves
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an introductory self-defense class for women on Saturday, October 19.
The 4-hour session is offered to women 14 and up for $35, according to the sheriff’s office.
Taught by tactics instructors, the class will include deterrents and avoidance, as well as how to detect an attack. There will also be a hands-on portion to teach basic self-defense maneuvers.
The class will be held from 8 a.m.- noon at the Sheriff’s Training Center in Newman Lake. Deputies advise bringing a water bottle, towel, and material to take notes. You’ll also want to wear athletic clothing and comfortable shoes.
