Gusty winds to blow through Spokane, N. Idaho Sunday afternoon

WindadvisorySPOKANE, Wash. — If you’re planning on taking a hike today, you may want to get it done early—the National Weather Service is predicting gusty winds up to 50 mph by Sunday evening.

NWS forecasts sustained winds between 15–30 mph with gusts up to 40–50.

These winds are expected to pick up around mid-afternoon in North Idaho and Okanogan Valley, then spread east into Washington into the evening. NWS says there will also be a slight chance of thunderstorms.

Potential impacts include blowing dust in Central Washington, lightning strikes in North Idaho, possible tree damage and wildfire dangers.
