Gov. Inslee to detail guidelines to move larger counties into phase 2 Tuesday

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington Governor Jay Inslee has developed guidelines to allow larger counties to move into phase 2 of the state’s reopening plan. The governor will announce that plan Tuesday morning.

Local leaders asked the governor to allow Spokane County to move into phase 2 early, but Inslee denied the request citing the county’s size. Counties with fewer than 75,000 people that have met protocol have been allowed to advance to phase 2 earlier than others.

Inslee said Monday that public health officials would like to move to phase 2 on June 1, but that decision will not be made until later this month.

According to a release, Inslee will also announce emergency small business grants.

The press conference starts at 11:00 a.m.
