Gorgeous fall weather gives Green Bluff orchards a boost
GREEN BLUFF, Wash. — Businesses in Green Bluff rely on great weather to bring in customers on the weekends and luckily, that’s something they’ve seen a lot of this fall.
“There has never been a fall with this many sunny, beautiful days,” said Val McKern while visiting Beck’s Harvest House with her daughter and grandson. “So we’re just storing it up and getting ready for winter.”
Hundreds of people flocked to Green Bluff Sunday to pick pumpkins and fruit.
“We really depend on the customers to come up here and pick their pumpkins, pick their apples and enjoy the scenery,” said Derrick Hansen, owner of Hansen’s Green Bluff Orchard. “And if it’s cold and rainy and windy, that really cuts down on the traffic hugely.”
Even though rain hurts business, Hansen is actually hoping for some before winter. He told KXLY4 going into winter dry is tough on the apple trees.
