Gordon Ward Cottier
Gordon Ward Cottier born April 20, 1954, age 65, born in Colorado grew up in Missoula, MT.
He met Sheila K. Mobley in Jr. High. They were married in 1971. After high school they moved to Coeur d’ Alene, ID in 1973 and Rathdrum in 1977.
He is survived by his wife Sheila; daughter Jody (Tony) Johnson; son Travis (Kelly) Cottier; grandchildren Jakob (Kaleigh) Carpenter, Ryan Holliday, Kyra Swearingen, Kobe, Tatum, and Finley Cottier; step grandchildren Jay (Christine) Johnson, Kyle (Sue) Johnson; great-grandson Wotan Carpenter; step-grandchildren Raelynn, Avery, Adelyn, Channing, and Logan Johnson; brother Terry (Debi) Cottier; nieces Amy Snow, sons Trevor and Ethan; Sarah (Todd) Rimby, daughter Olivia; step-sister Michal (Tom) Stewart and daughter Alex Stewart; and many in-laws. Proceeded in death by Vern Cottier, father; Zella (Jack) Bloxom, mother and step-father; and Greg Cottier, brother.
Gordy worked as a journeyman industrial roofer until he was disabled by a back injury in 1988. In 1995, he and Sheila moved to Avery, ID, and enjoyed the St. Joe area’s hunting and fishing. He enjoyed building cedar strip canoes, faceting gemstones, and working on Avery community projects. He prayed three times daily asking God to watch over his family, and…he is finally relieved to get off the water-sewer board!
By his request, no formal services will be held. The family will have a celebration of life and scatter his ashes at his favorite hunting spot at “no tell ‘em creek on none of your business mountain”. Any memorial donations can be made to the Avery Community Center, PO Box 143, Avery ID 83802. Cards to his family may be sent to PO Box 75, Avery ID 83802.
