SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga women’s basketball head coach Lisa Fortier was named to the Butte College Hall of Fame this week, marking her third HOF induction in the last two years.

Fortier was also honored at Cal State Monterey Bay and Place High School in 2020.

“I am completely humbled by these honors,” Fortier said. “I loved my time at each of these schools, and I value the relationships and experiences that have come from my time spent at Placer High School, Butte College, and CSU Monterey Bay. I am so thankful for the teammates, teachers, coaches, and mentors that have entered my life through education and basketball.”

Fortier was part of the Placer High School basketball team that made the playoffs, and she still holds the record for most charges taken. She then went on to play for the Butte women’s basketball team from 1999-2002. The team advanced to the Elite Eight in her final season.

Soon after, Fortier transferred to California State University, Monterey Bay, where she was named All-Cal Pac Conference, NAIA Academic All-America, and CSUMB Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also led the team to 18 wins and was the first multi–honored student-athlete in Otter women’s basketball history.

Fortier was the team’s second All-Cal-Pac Conference honoree and became the only Otter ever to earn the NAIA Scholar Athlete Award during the team’s six seasons at that level.

Despite playing just two seasons, Fortier finished her career as CSUMB’s all–time leader in scoring, 3-pointers, free throws, rebounds and assists. She still ranks in the Otter career Top 10 in 13 categories, including points (7th), scoring average (3rd) and assists (7th). Fortier graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSUMB in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in human communications.

The ceremonies for Cal State Monterey Bay and Placer High School have already taken place, but the Butte College induction ceremony will be held on Sept. 16.
