Gonzaga women spread out the scoring, beat Little Rock, advancing to the second round
CORVALLIS, Ore. — It started with a Katie Campbell three, and Gonzaga would never let that lead go.
Playing without Laura Stockton and Jill Townsend due to injury, the Zags looked far from short-handed against Little Rock (Arkansas) on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs held the Trojans scoreless for the first seven minutes of the game, building a 21-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. They never looked back, and advance to the second round of the tournament in Corvallis, facing the winner of Oregon State and Boise State.
Zykera Rice led the Zags with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Katie Campbell finished with 15, going 5-6 from beyond the arc. Six other players got minutes for Gonzaga, and each of them scored at least four points.
