Gonzaga star Gabriel Hughes drafted No. 10 to Colorado Rockies
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Gonzaga pitcher Gabriel Hughes was taken as the No. 10 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies.
The 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound pitcher from Eagle, Idaho, is the highest Zag to be picked under the current draft format.
In 2021, he was named as a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American and named to the WCC All-Conference Freshman and Second Team.
One of the better players on the Zags, Hughes has the chance to play for the Spokane Indians, the high-A affiliate of the Rockies.
Last season, Hughes threw 98 innings, striking out 138 batters and walking only 37.
