Gonzaga puts on show at Kraziness in the Kennel

The Gonzaga men’s basketball team put on a show in front of a standing-room only crowd at the 2018 Numerica Kraziness in the Kennel at the McCarthey Athletic Center Saturday.

Fans were treated to special player and coaching staff introductions, a three-point shootout, and a dunk contest, before an intrasquad scrimmage.

After tying in the three-point contest finals, Zach Norvell Jr. edged out Josh Perkins in a sudden-death shoot-off for the title. Brandon Clarke then defended his dunk contest title, winning for the second straight year.

Clarke shined in the 15-minute scrimmage. The redshirt junior scored eight points, pulled down six rebounds, and blocked five shots. His blue squad closed the game on a 7-0 run and pulled away with a 30-22 win. Blue teammate, Zach Norvell Jr. , finished with a game-high 12 points. For the third straight season, Jeremy Jones made three steals in the game.

On the other side, Josh Perkins scored 10 points in his fifth Kraziness in the Kennel. Rui Hachimura grabbed a game-high nine boards.

The Zags open the 2018-19 season with an exhibition against Central Washington on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. The regular season will begin against Idaho State on Nov. 6.
