Gonzaga campus buzzing with excitement over tournament
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga University campus was filled with excitement on Saturday as both the men’s and women’s basketball teams continued to dance in the NCAA Tournament.
The men’s team advanced to the Elite 8 while the women’s team lost to the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday afternoon in Spokane.
The teams’ success has campus buzzing.
Before the women’s game on Tuesday the Kennel Club hosted a rally in the quad near the Crosby Student Center.
Quite a few students showed up for free pizza and face paint.
Students say the atmosphere at Gonzaga is crazy.
“I don’t know how to put it into words,” Gonzaga student Saba Mateos said, “like how exciting it is and how much we all love it.”
“There is just a different vibe on campus,” Gonzaga student Cait Rosellini said. “You walk around and just normal classes and everybody is yelling ‘Go Zags.'”
Sunday, a watch party is planned in the quad for the men’s Elite 8 game.
