It’s the second child for Gleason and his wife Michel. Big brother Rivers was born in 2011, after Steve was diagnosed with ALS.
Steve and Michel made a choice to have children despite the diagnosis and have shared much of their journey as a family with the world. A documentary on their journey was shown at the Sundance Film Festival and in theaters across the country.
Steve was born and raised in Spokane and was a standout athlete and student at Gonzaga Prep. He went on to play baseball and football at WSU and played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints.
He was diagnosed with ALS in 2011. Shortly after his diagnosis, Team Gleason was created. The foundation is dedicated to showing that patients can thrive after diagnosis.
The Gleason family lives in Michel’s native New Orleans, but have family and friends in the Inland Northwest.
Congratulations to the Gleason Family!
