Girl dies from injuries after being transported from fatal Spirit Lake crash

SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho — A girl recently succumbed to her injuries after being Life Flighted from a crash north of Spirit Lake on Sunday morning. Another man was pronounced dead at the scene when Idaho State Police first responded to the crash.
The crash happened just before noon on Spirit Lake Cutoff Road, according to Idaho State Police.
According to a press release, 50-year-old John Hampton was driving northbound when he turned a corner, crossed the center line, and collided with a truck. Hampton was killed in the crash, and his SUV rolled and landed in a ditch.
Two people riding with Hampton, including a child, were rushed to Kootenai Health. The other driver involved was not injured. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
