Four-time convicted felon arrested with guns, heroin
SPOKANE, Wash. — A four-time convicted felon is back in jail after Spokane Police found him with heroin and two firearms.
A Spokane Police Department officer tried to stop Wesley D. Shandy, 34, in the 700 block of South Lacey Street at about 9:45 a.m. Monday. He led the officer on a short chase before running inside a nearby home.
Police soon learned he had a firearm with him. There were also two uninvolved women in the house who had been visiting when the incident happened.
Officers surrounded the house and the women left safely. Shandy followed shortly after and was arrested without incident, according to police.
Police searched the home and found two firearms and ammunition, which they said Shandy had when he arrived.
Shandy’s previous convictions are for robbery, possession of stolen property, malicious mischief with a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He is prohibited from having any firearm.
Police booked him into jail for two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and obstruction of justice. He was also wanted for an outstanding warrant by the Department of Corrections.
