Former EWU quarterback Gage Gubrud chooses WSU as next destination, pending NCAA decision

Eastern quarterback Gage Gubrud played less than a third of the 2018-19 football season, after a foot injury sidelined him. Now, he waits on the NCAA to see whether he’ll get a medical redshirt for last season, and wants to be a WSU Cougar if he does.

Gubrud entered the NCAA transfer portal following Eastern’s loss to North Dakota State in the FCS National Championship. He narrowed his options down to Washington State and the University of Utah.

On Sunday, multiple sources like the Spokesman Review and CougFan.com reported he wants to be a Cougar next year. But the decision from the NCAA on whether he will get a graduate transfer year is still up in the air.

Gubrud is an FCS All-American and a two-time Walter Payton Award finalist, but he would join a quarterback room at Washington State full of redshirt seniors Anothy Gordon and Trey Tinsley, along with Cooper Cannon and Gunner Cruz
