Fire near Sacred Heart prompts large emergency response
SPOKANE, Wash. — Several fire engines responded to a large fire at an under construction parking garage near Providence Sacred Heart Friday night around 10 p.m.
Fire officials on scene told KXLY 4 the unfinished parking garage, located at 675 S. McClellan Street, was filled with building materials on the 3rd and 4th floors.
A massive plume of smoke and flames were seen coming out of the structure as nearly 40 crews with 10 engines worked to get the fire contained.
The flames created enough heat that concrete fell from the building as firefighters worked to get things under control.
No one was inside the building by the time fire crews arrived. The fire was knocked down around midnight on Saturday, but firefighters will remain at the scene into the early morning hours as they continue to investigate the cause.
Anyone with information about the fire can call 509-625-7000 so that information can be forwarded to investigators.
