Fire, explosion damage northeast Spokane home
SPOKANE, Wash. — A single family home was severely damaged by a fire just after midnight Sunday. Thankfully, no one was inside at the time.
Callers reported hearing an explosion and seeing fire coming from the home.
Spokane Fire crews were called to the 3800 block of E. Bridgeport Ave. at 12:39 a.m. and found the basement and first floor already engulfed in flames. The foundation of the home also had extensive damage, making it unsafe for firefighters to enter.
Crews were able to knock down the majority of the fire from outside, and searched the home to confirm there was nobody inside.
One adult male with minor burns was taken to a local hospital before the fire department arrived, but no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigation Unit.
