Fire displaces north Spokane family
Fire drove a family of four from their north Spokane apartment and sent a disabled woman to the hospital.
The Spokane Fire Department and units from Spokane County Fire District 9 responded to 202 E Wedgewood Ave. around 9 p.m. to a report of an apartment fire.
When they arrived, fire crews discovered a fire in the bathroom of a ground floor apartment unit.
A disabled woman inside was not able to get out. Firefighters carried her to safety. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
A person who was inside the apartment when the fire started tried putting it out, and firefighters say that greatly limited the extent of damage.
The family of four displaced by the fire will be staying with relatives until the fire damage is repaired.
The Spokane Fire Department’s Special Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause.
