COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Isaiah is 7. He loves exploring Jump for Joy Jump House in Coeur d'Alene.
“Typically, he likes a quiet place, like a pillow with lots of animals...,” said Tanya Crow, Isaiah's case manager.
Isaiah was born with a chromosomal deficiency that mimics Autism.
“He is learning to talk,” said Tanya. “When he's in the right environment and he feels safe, he can talk more and he can tell you what he wants.”
What he knows he wants, is structure.
“He actually dictates structure in his home. He likes to eat at the same time every day, and he likes to get up at the same time every day,” said Tanya.
She says he needs a patient, informed family who has experience in dealing with special needs.
“If you are not skilled in what it is that he really, truly needs, then you might think he is being naughty when really what it is, is understanding who he is and what he needs,” said Tanya.
He needs a calm, structured, loving home in which to thrive.
