Family of domestic violence murder victim in court to hear guilty plea
SPOKANE, Wash. — A man charged with the murder of his girlfriend on Thanksgiving last year changed his plea to guilty Friday morning.
Nicholas Holden was arrested in November of last year; investigators say he got into an argument with his girlfriend, Tina Stewart, and killed her.
Holden pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and will be sentenced next month.
In the wake of Stewart’s death, her family and friends have been outspoken about domestic violence in the community, wearing t-shirts with Stewart’s name and face to Holden’s court appearances.
They’ve reached out to local congressional representatives as well, in hopes of establishing a national registry for people convicted of domestic violence offenses.
