Family dog killed in Spokane Valley house fire
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department said two women woke up to a fire in their home Tuesday morning in the 10800 block of E 4th Ave.
One woman said the sound of breaking glass woke her up and she was able to wake up the other woman in the home. The two managed to get out of the house safely, however the fire singed the hair of one woman as she fled the home.
Firefighters said unfortunately their pet dog died in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Spokane Valley Fire Department would like to remind residents that working smoke alarms save lives. Be sure to replace batteries every six months and replace smoke alarms every 10 years.
