Extreme Team giving Humane Society a helping paw
SPOKANE, Wash. — The KXLY 4 Extreme Team is back in action, this time working to help our four-legged friends at the Spokane Humane Society.
They are the faces that are tough to say no to and soon they will have a new look to their temporary home, a much needed upgrade.
“Leaking ceilings and water underneath the floor and all kinds of stuff.,” Humane Society Executive Director Dave Richardson said.
From the paint chipping away on the floors to the old stone entrance, the wear and tear at the Spokane Humane Society is starting to show.
“The building is a little tired because we have really spent a lot of our attention and time on the direct care of animals,” Richardson said.
For every dollar they have, 70 cents comes from a donor, so money is tight when it comes to making major repairs.
“The community has supported us for 118 years so we don’t have the extra money to do these types of cosmetics, all of our money that we spend really goes to help the animals,” Richardson said.
So you can imagine the surprise and excitement when the Extreme Team moved in.
“This is going to be one of the, I mean really one of the bigger projects that we have done, maybe not so much in building but in square footage that we have done,” Mark Peterson said.
It’s all to help the people who give their time to take care of our four legged friends and give those animals a loving home.
“What an amazing gift that Mark and the Extreme Team and KXLY is giving to us and the critters that we help,” Richardson said.
