Extreme & Severe drought across the Inland Northwest

As of today, portions of eastern Washington and Northern Idaho are under a severe and extreme draught after a record dry Spring. If this continues, we’ll see issues with not only forest fires due to the dry conditions, but also agriculture. We have a shot for rain Friday night into Saturday and then a few more chances early next week, but this is not going to be enough to pull us out of the current situation. We’re 4 inches below average between snow and rain for this year and the most moisture that will pick up by next week is between .25 and .50 inches of rain. As for our Thursday, dry and breezy conditions. Our overnight lows will be in the upper-40s and highs for our Friday will be in the low 70’s, which is right about where we should be this time of year. – Emily Blume, in for Kris Crocker
